3. Preamble

As part of the school's charter and mission, the Architecture Department at the School ensures a vibrant design culture, aiming to graduate individuals not only valued by the architectural practice but also capable of making critical contributions to the future of the profession. The school has dedicated efforts to foster an open studio culture, where students of all levels learn from each other, cultivating innovative ideas and developing in-depth practical knowledge through independent and original research.

The study of architecture and planning is comprehensive, requiring a deeper understanding of people and the physical and cultural contexts of the places we inhabit. It demands innovative thinking, technical know-how, and a deep exploration of arts, history, and culture. Moreover, students must understand their role in society and how it interacts with others to create well-designed buildings for better and safer environments.

The bachelor's level course is integrated, combining studio-based design projects with theoretical knowledge, abilities, and skills acquired through technical studies, cultural context, site visits, and case studies. Design projects, emphasizing both manual and computer-generated presentation skills, are conducted in small groups, ensuring personal attention throughout the course. The resulting design portfolio becomes a crucial component when applying for postgraduate courses or employment.

In the first year, students engage in basic projects, developing two and three-dimensional visual perception, improving graphical understanding, and delving into mathematical applications, structural mechanisms, building materials, construction, and climatology.

The second and third years involve advanced projects within individual design units, incorporating key subjects like History of Architecture, Theory of Settlements, Structures, Building Technology, Services, Estimation and Costing, Computer-Aided Design, Working Drawing, and Visual and Written Skills.

The first semester of the fourth year focuses on even more advanced design projects, along with building materials, construction, structures, and an introduction to various subjects such as Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Project Management, and Behavioral Psychology.

During the second semester of the fourth year, students undergo professional training under a practicing architect registered with the Council of Architecture, gaining practical insights into architectural practice, market resources, and client management.

In the fifth year, advanced design modules, building technology, structures, ecology, environment, and elective subjects are explored. The final semester centers on developing a Design Thesis, drawing on knowledge gained from theory and practice, simultaneously incorporating subjects like Professional Practice, Valuation, Arbitration, and Seminar.

These comprehensive elements provide students with a well-rounded education and prepare them for successful careers in the field of architecture.
